Program Assistants
POSITION SUMMARY
Program Assistants support the International Center’s social and cultural programs by implementing events and by assisting in event planning. Program Assistants work 2-3 events per month (about 10 hours a month) during evenings and weekends. The pay rate will be $12.50 an hour (starting in 2025). Hours vary weekly depending on the number and type of events. This position reports to the International Student and Scholar Program Coordinator.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff and run programs and events

Set up the space for the event and prep for activities

Greet the participants as they come in

Introduce the center and the volunteer to the participants

Make sure the program is going well and everyone is having a positive experience

Resolve any problems that occur during the program (technology or people)

Break down at the end of the event, which could include washing dishes used during cooking classes

Report back to Program Coordinator about how the program went

Assist in planning a program with a volunteer (optional)

Lead your own program (optional)

Resident Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
The resident manager lives at UVA’s Lorna Sundberg International Center, 21 University Circle. They handle lodging and event space reservations; provide hospitality and convey policies to international house guests and UVA groups using the space; and maintain daily oversight over various aspects of the facility. As this is a residential position, it is not suited to anyone who wishes to travel extensively. Position reports to the Assistant Director of the Lorna Sundberg International Center with the duties listed below as well as other duties that arise or as assigned.
Remuneration: a rent-free furnished bedroom/bathroom suite, including all utilities and internet, access to the facilities of the house, parking, and one hour of paid time per day at a rate of $15 an hour.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Respond to lodgings and event space email inquiries and online form submissions

Make up welcome packets for residents, orient them to the facility and the International Center's policies, and communicate about lodgings payments and rental agreements

Regularly check-in with residents to ensure they have the information and guidance they need about UVA and the community and provide information and referrals to appropriate UVA resources

Serve as a positive role model and foster residents sense of community and respect for maintaining the policies and standards of the shared space

Provide daily oversight of the facility and contact facilities management to request routine or emergency services for the building or grounds

Regularly communicate with the center's staff through in-person meetings, messaging, and by maintaining and updating a shared online calendar

Coordinate with other student staff to cover event space reservations
ELIGIBILITY
UVA students, graduate students preferred, but 4th-year undergraduate students will also be considered.
