Resident Manager
Dates needed: Spring 2024, Summer 2024, Academic Year 2024-2025
Eligibility: UVA students, graduate students preferred but 4th-year undergraduate students will also be considered

The resident manager lives at UVA’s Lorna Sundberg International Center and handles lodging and event space reservations, provides hospitality and convey policies to international house guests and UVA groups using the space, and maintains daily oversight over various aspects of the facility. Hours are about 10 per week, mostly evenings and weekends with a rate of $12 an hour. The position includes a furnished bedroom/bathroom suite, access to the facilities of the house, parking, and all utilities including internet. As this is a residential position, it is not suited to anyone who wishes to travel more than one weekend a month or more than one-two weeks during breaks. If you are a graduate student with assistantship funding, you must check with your department for approval before applying. This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Lorna Sundberg International Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Respond to lodgings and event space email inquiries and form submissions

Make up welcome packets for residents, orient them to the facility and the International Center's policies, and manage the collection of fees and rental agreements

Respond to residents questions and needs around housing, banking, transportation, UVA, and the community by providing information and referrals to appropriate UVA staff

Foster residents sense of community and respect for maintaining the shared spaces

Provide daily oversight of the facility and contact facilities management to request routine or emergency services for the building or grounds

Prepare a weekly check sheet for housekeeping to let them know which rooms need cleaning

Coordinate with other student staff to cover event space reservations
