English Conversation Group
Weekly on Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30pm, check link for schedule
English language learners from the UVA international community gather weekly for informal conversation at the International Center. The volunteer leader(s) create discussion topics and activities to help participants practice speaking English. This is an opportunity to make friends, improve English skills, and share cultures. No fee is required.
Pizza Chat
Monthly on Sunday, 5:30-7pm, check link for schedule
English language learners from the UVA international community gather monthly for a casual chat over pizza. The volunteer leader prepares questions on common topics to get the discussion started and then the group is welcome to stay on that topic or take lively conversation in any other direction that comes up. This is a great way to practice English conversation and meet others. No fee is required.
Open to the wider Charlottesville community; application and fee are required. This 10-week class is designed to help students speak fluently and accurately. Students will work on improving pronunciation, learn idioms, review parts of speech, and give oral presentations. There is weekly written homework. Non-credit course fee for 20 hours of instruction is $289.
