The following programs are held at the International Center and are open to English learners at UVA and in the local community.
No fee or registration required for the following groups.
Classes for a Fee
Application and fee are required. This class focuses on the areas of vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation to reinforce listening, speaking, and reading for the intermediate to advanced student. Non-credit course fee for 40 hours of instruction is $283.
Application and fee are required. This class is designed to help students speak fluently and accurately. Students will learn idioms and review parts of speech through interactive tasks such as role-play, debate, and discussion. There is weekly written homework. Non-credit course fee for 20 hours of instruction is $236.
The University reserves the right to make changes to future course fees.

New students must follow the application steps below in order. Former students, please email our office for application details.
Step 1: Complete the online interest form by January 16, 2018.
Step 2: Attend a mandatory group screening meeting with the instructor, Claudine O’Brien, on January 18, 2018, 9am-12pm at the International Center.
The instructor will determine if your English level is appropriate for one or both classes. If your level is too low or too high, you will not be able to take the class.
Step 3: If accepted, our office will email you the online class application form to complete by January 26, 2018. Once we receive your application, you will be billed by UVA.
Step 4: Pay for the class online or at the UVA Cashier’s Office. You will receive an email with detailed instructions on how to pay.
After the application deadline, we will start admitting students from the waiting list if there is room.
